Relocating to the Western Isles of Scotland - November 2025

James Wyllie was based in Orkney on the Northern Isles of Scotland, United Kingdom for five years where he gained experience living on a remote Island called the Isle of Hoy.

James has now relocated to the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides (UK) from November 2025 & has now rebranded as “Light Of Lewis Photography”.

James is a landscape, wildlife photographer currently living on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. He has many years of experience capturing the rugged coastlines, dramatic skies, and untamed beauty of Scotland, his photography reflects a deep connection to place and atmosphere through his lens.

November 2025 - James has relocated to the Isle of Lewis, beginning a new chapter both personally and professionally. With this move comes an exciting rebrand: Light of Lewis Photography. This new identity will showcase not only the unique light and landscapes of Lewis and Harris but also James’s continuing commitment to creating evocative images that celebrate the wild character of Scotland’s islands.

Through Light of Lewis Photography, James will continue to share his passion for the natural world, while also supporting charitable causes for military veterans — blending creativity with purpose in his next stage as a photographer. James is an exceptional photographer & drone (UAV) operator with many years of experience. His artistic vision beautifully captures the enchanting landscapes of Scotland. James ventures into the skies to unveil the hidden treasures of this captivating archipelago. From the rugged cliffs and sweeping coastlines to the ancient standing stones and mysterious neolithic sites, James’s photography illuminates the unique beauty and rich history of Scotland. His photographs effortlessly convey the timeless charm of Scotland & it’s Islands, showcasing their dramatic cliffs bathed in golden sunlight, the ethereal mist shrouding the ancient ruins, and the vibrant hues of the sea surrounding the isles. Through his lens, James, invites his viewers to embark on a visual journey through mainland Scotland, Orkney & the Western Isles, immersing his viewers in the captivating scenery that he has captured over the last number of years. James continues his photography journey to this present day, alongside his beloved Border Collie (Sonny) who is his trusting travel companion,,,, these two guys are just Inseparable!

James is supporting “COMBAT STRESS” with his gallery website (The Veterans Mental Health Charity here in the United Kingdom) https://combatstress.org.uk/ All Proceeds from the Gallery go directly to “COMBAT STRESS”. My reason for this? “Combat Stress” has helped me over the years after serving in the UK Armed Forces. They have helped me transition back into civilian life over the years & I feel like I should be giving something back by helping other veterans (Giving back helps me stay positive & focused). Coming out of the Military can be a very daunting experience, especially when suffering from PTSD. Our Veterans should always be our first priority!
